For more than 110 years, we have been preparing young men to serve and lead in this fast-moving world.

Today we are on an exciting journey as we guide the boys in their search for meaning in the world around them, and in their interactions with each other. Working with experts in their field, Christ Church has created its own pedagogy (art and science of teaching), specific programs and a diverse range of activities to assist boys develop a strong personal identity at every stage of their journey. At the same time, we encourage them to understand the significance of positive and healthy relationships, find their sense of purpose, and foster a healthy vision for their future.

Our Early Learning Community (ELC) educates boys in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Pre-Primary. The Early Learning Program is research-based, acknowledging that young boys learn best when they are actively involved in tasks, when there is rich discussion about what they are doing and when there are regular opportunities to work with others. We recognise that our boys are capable and competent learners who need space, time and opportunity to explore, experiment, take risks and build their dispositions for learning.

We are a school that genuinely values diversity and I strongly believe it makes our educational community stronger. We operate in a culture where every activity and achievement is celebrated equally and a learning environment in which individuals can thrive and each boy feels safe.

This is an exciting time to be considering a Christ Church education for your son, and I encourage you to visit our campus and experience first-hand the unique culture of our school.

Christ Church’s Phases of Learning are the core framework of each age and stage, and the educational approach that develops from childhood through to graduation. The journey through each phase is designed to motivate them to discover and realise the best in themselves and others.

Play with Purpose (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2)

Teachers work towards creating a strong foundation on which to build each boy’s education. Direct teaching instruction is reinforced through play-based activities, developing academic and social-emotional skills in a fun, engaging and relevant environment.

Fun with Fundamentals (Years 3 and 4)

In this phase boys are engaged in fun and interesting activities designed to help them thrive in literacy and numeracy. Teachers aim to develop the public-speaking skills of all boys through the Oracy Australia program and continue their social-emotional development through PATHS.

Enquiry with Initiative (Years 5 and 6)

Education programs are targeted at enabling the unique character of each boy to become more clearly understood by himself and his teachers. Learning becomes more inquiry-based, with boys taking more responsibility and ownership, and using greater initiative.

Breadth and Depth (Years 7 and 8)

Students are introduced to a range of academic, co-curricular and pastoral experiences to assist them in making the most of the opportunities available in their future school years. Teaching is highly structured to ensure the core learning areas are emphasised to build a strong foundation for future subject opportunities.

Choice and Challenge (Years 9 and 10)

Students can choose a greater number of electives and discover their strengths, beginning the process of making decisions to align with their future careers. Taking personal responsibility for learning is given greater focus and creativity is encouraged.

Excellence and Expertise (Years 11 and 12)

In this phase, students take ownership of their selected subjects and study courses in considerable depth over a two-year period. The choice of university entrance in a particular discipline or the pursuit of a work-based course is left to the individual and his family.
