Young people can unleash their creativity through a range of free art activities and workshops as the
City of Bayswater hosts Youth Jam from 2-5.30pm on Thursday 7 July.
This event forms part of the City’s Youth Action Plan, The Platform, which includes providing
opportunities for people aged 12 to 25 to take part in activities that enhance their mental health and
social connections.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said she encouraged young people to attend the events on offer.
“We are committed to providing events, initiatives and programs for our youth to ensure they are
actively engaged in community life,” she said.
“Feeling connected to and part of a community is vitally important for our young people as they
prepare to meet life’s challenges head on.
“These workshops are designed to support the mental health wellbeing of our children and young
adults by developing their artistic talents and creative skills.
“There will be a wide range of activities for young people, from decorating a denim jacket to take
home kindly donated by Deadly Denim, to a workshop on special FX makeup.
“Other hands-on activities include creating your own Zine, jewellery, badges, sun-catcher or clay
creature. You can also contribute to a large artwork or get involved in the silent disco or clothes
swap.”
Young people under the age of 18 will require a signed consent form from a parent or guardian,
available on the City’s website.
This event is supported by the Department of Communities.
