It’s about to get WILDE in the West! | 2024 The Importance of Being Wasted Competition Giveaway

Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy of manners gets a cocktail hour twist at 2024 Fringe World Perth.
Combining the sophistication of Oscar Wilde's wit with the wildness of a night out, "The Importance of Being Wasted" is a must-see for theatre lovers and cocktail enthusiasts alike.
This intoxicating comedy is from the slightly-sozzled brains at Act React, which has previously presented Speed: The Movie, The Play, Love/Hate Actually and Raven On at Perth FRINGE WORLD.
This is its West Australian debut.
“The Importance of Being Earnest is delicious satirical romp through upper crust English society, famous for its rapid-fire dialogue and precise comic timing,” Act React producer and performer Natalie Bochenski said.
“It’s a play that requires focus and clarity of speech - so we throw booze into the mix to see what happens.”

The play has been reduced in length and will be performed by just six actors, meaning extra chaos - particularly when combined with the rest of the evening’s, uh… high spirits.
Bochenski said each performance would be unique, with different combinations of trollied thespians attempting to deliver Wilde’s wordy witticisms.
“We love injecting unpredictability into our shows, and walking that tightrope of chaos and control. Having a few drinks under our belts will be an extra test of our mettle!”
