Looking for something interesting, affordable and engaging this weekend for the whole family?
Come to Australian Model Railway Association (AMRA) of WA’s clubroom located in Bayswater!
Inside, you'll find a welcoming and passionate community of hobbyists willing to show and share their intricate model railway displays with anyone and everyone. There's always someone happy to answer questions about the trains, their history or how to get started in the hobby so everyone learns something from visiting this little Perth attraction.
Every week, AMRA WA's clubrooms are open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with regular Open Days held throughout the year. During Open Days, the clubroom is bustling with fun and excitement with lots of trains running across multiple model railway layouts, through to, hands-on activities such as kids being able to drive and play with these miniature trains and diorama making and talks from members to introduce everyone to the hobby.

Given enough time and notice, AMRA WA's clubroom is also open for birthday parties, as well as, school excursions and STEM incursions.

Event Overview
Perth’s largest Model Railway Exhibition
This year's Annual event is in the Silver Jubilee Pavilion, at Claremont Showgrounds.
There will be exhibits of Model Railways, Traders and like minded and similar organisations.
Familiar ones like Maylands Model Railways, Perth Hobby Centre, Hobbytech and Tinkering Tools to name a just a few traders.
Rail Heritage WA, Perth Electric Tram Society, Hotham Valley Railway and Bennett Brook Railway will also be there.
Come along and have a great day out being a child.

Why Trains & Diorama Making?
Model trains and diorama making is a great hobby for kids to get involved in for these 5 great reasons:
Encourages Creativity: It's a creative hobby that allows children to express their imagination and artistic skills. From designing landscapes to painting and detailing miniature models, it brings out ideas and creativity in children.
Develops Fine Motor Skills: Engaging in train model and diorama making requires precise hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Children will learn to handle small tools, manipulate tiny parts, and work with intricate details, which can enhance their dexterity and hand control.
Cultivates Patience and Attention to Detail: Creating detailed train models and dioramas requires patience and attention to detail. It also fosters patience and perseverance to complete tasks.
Sparks Interest in STEM and History: Train models often depict historical periods and different types of trains, sparking children's curiosity about history and engineering. Also, depending on complexity, it's also a great way to introduce children to electrical circuits as they wire up their models.
