It’s a book that has nibbled its way into the hearts of millions of children all over the world.  Eric Carle’s iconic The Very Hungry Caterpillar has sold over 45 million copies, and if it hasn’t sat on your bookshelf at some point in your life I’m sure you knew someone who had a copy.

This June 5 - 9, The Very Hungry Caterpillar comes to life at the State Theatre Centre of WA in a joyous and masterful theatrical experience!

Created by Jonathan Rockefeller, this critically acclaimed production features a menagerie of 75 loveable puppets including characters from Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, Ten Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Busy Spider and, of course, the star of the show The Very Hungry Caterpillar.


"I hope the performances will be enjoyed by many and that the colourful characters bring comfort and joy to all who see the stories,” said Eric Carle about the show.  “It is uplifting to see such beautiful and cheerful works inspired by my characters! I hope my books and this show will inspire you and your imagination”.

Whether you’re just discovering Carle’s stories, or are one of the many generations who grew up with his iconic books, this enchanting Australian-made show will transport you into a pop-up-like version of Carle’s world that will excite, educate and entertain the whole family.
