Held in the historic town of York, just a 90-minute drive from Perth, this annual spectacular draws thousands of visitors every year. In fact, fun fact: the population of York doubles over the weekend as families from all over descend on this picturesque Wheatbelt town for a day (or weekend) of medieval fun.
The York Medieval Fayre is a family-friendly celebration of all things medieval. Think knights in armour, jousting tournaments, sword fighting, archery, jesters, artisan markets, and performers roaming the grounds — there's something to delight kids and adults alike. Dressing up is highly encouraged, so dust off your tunics, flower crowns, and cloaks for the ultimate immersive experience!

One of the most magical parts of the weekend is the York Medieval Banquet, a ticketed evening event featuring a delicious 3-course medieval-style feast, live music, and a breathtaking fire performance. It’s a must-do for those staying overnight — and a great reason to book a weekend escape in one of York’s charming B&Bs.
But the heart of the York Medieval Fayre goes beyond fun — it’s a community-driven event organised by the York Friendship Club. Proceeds go towards charitable causes, including supporting Perth’s homeless through donations to the Salvation Army and other vital charities.
Whether you make it a day trip or a full weekend getaway, the York Medieval Fayre is the perfect way for Perth families to enjoy a fun, meaningful, and memorable adventure.
