How your son benefits from Christ Church Grammar’s research-based Little Learners program
By Marnie Adams, Contributor @ Kids In Perth 31 Oct 2022
Christ Church Grammar School’s Early Learning Years Program (ELC) is based on research showing that young children learn best when they're actively involved in tasks, have rich discussion about what they're doing and regular opportunities to work and collaborate with others.
Christ Church Grammar School recognises their boys as being capable and competent learners who need space, time and opportunity to explore, experiment, take risks and build their dispositions for learning.

The program creates a true Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 learning journey for boys, developing stronger relationship between the School, as well as, family bonds between the boys and their families.
It also uses the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standards and the Western Australian Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines as a foundation for implementing quality teaching and learning.

Why join Christ Church Grammar School in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten?
Joining Christ Church Grammar School in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten allows us to commence best practice and early intervention programs, based on developmental observations from teachers and or/screening.
Boys’ progress is captured and tracked earlier, allowing our world-class teaching staff to cater their tutelage to each boy, ensuring they receive the best education possible.
Boys are exposed to a variety of opportunities that they would not normally experience within a day-care setting.
Our qualified Early Childhood teachers and staff understand and respect the uniqueness of teaching in an all-boy environment and help boys to reach their full potential.
Our Parent Series supports families with their own journey, particularly first-time parents, to join us in building good men.
The Christ Church community is enriched by having the older boys mentor and care for their younger peers, developing a sense of belonging and camaraderie from a young age.
Through our Vertical Tutorial Group structure, younger boys have the opportunity to mingle and learn from their older peers, conversely the older boys build their mentorship and leadership skills through these relationships.

Strings Program
Studies have shown that learning an instrument alongside traditional subjects offers many benefits.
At Christ Church, every boy in Pre-Primary chooses to learn either the violin or cello for the entire year, facilitated by highly experienced tutors.
Their Pre-Primary Strings program aims for boys to develop a lifelong love of learning, listening and making music.
Lessons are held twice weekly and the boys learn to care for, set up and pack away their instrument, and also, how to hold their instrument with correct posture and technique.
Becoming familiar with routine and practising so to play a short song at the end of the year.
Being expected to practice regularly, teaches the boys the value of consistency and hard work from an early age.
The music pedagogy of the program is influenced by the Suzuki method, a Japanese method of learning string instruments.
