Make waves at Perth’s Outback Splash

As a little girl growing up in Perth in the mid-eighties, I loved exploring new and fun things to do with my family.   One of my fondest memories was a day trip out to ‘The Maze’ – a giant life-sized maze made of timber that my brother and I got lost in for hours running up and down the aisles.

Around six years ago I took my daughter back there.  It was then called ‘Outback Splash at The Maze’ and I was delighted to see how much it had grown.  In addition to the maze was an awesome water playground called Splash Island, a big picnic area and gorgeous koalas that we could take photos with.

Flash forward to 2021 and I’m absolutely amazed (pardon the pun!) to see how much this family favourite outdoor venue has evolved!  Now called Perth's Outback Splash, the kids (and kids at heart!) will be in awe when they see 4 giant waterslides towering 6 storeys in the air, two exhilarating raft slides, an extreme thrill slide, and for those adrenaline seekers - WA’s fastest body slide!

For the littlies, Splash Island offers a fun and safe environment that they’ll love.  This 3 storey, island themed water playground features 6 waterslides, water cannons and a giant tipping bucket to get them extra drenched.

In addition to the water based activities (which run seasonally from September to April) are year-round family fun attractions including a winding mini golf course, multiple mazes, sensory play activities, a large children’s playground and native animal experiences.

Perth’s Outback Splash is located in Bullsbrook, just over 30 minutes from Perth’s CBD.  Pack a picnic or grab lunch at The Burger Bar to make a full family fun day of it.  There is also a Snack Shack serving delicious refreshments and, in summer, the Gage Roads Summer Bar where you can kick back on a bean bag under the cabana and chill with a drink.

If you’ve never checked out Perth’s Outback Splash, or if you have been there before but not for a while, I definitely recommend adding it to your to-do list.  It won’t disappoint!

Our four fave attractions

The Wedgie

As the name suggests, you need to hold onto your swimmers when you take on The Wedgie.  This breathtaking ride plunges you down at a speed of 75 kilometres per hour, then slows to let you catch a breath (and readjust your trunks!), before plunging you down again.

The Wall

If you’ve been to Bali’s Waterbom Park then this waterslide will bring back some memories.  The Wall is a quarter-pipe raft slide will leave you with your heart in your throat after experience the almost free-fall drop.

Hedge Maze

This iconic maze is comprises of 690 metres of hedge that has taken 6 years to grow!

Aussie Animals

Partnering with the Australian Koala Foundation, Perth’s Outback Splash gives you the opportunity to pat a koala!  You can also meet the resident kangaroos, an emu family and a special local, ‘Winnie the Wombat’.
