WA Opera’s KOOLBARDI WER WARDONG takes flight!
By Marnie Adams, In collaboration with WA Opera 09 Sep 2021

Aliwa yeyi! (Look out now!)
Feathers will fly in this cautionary tale.
Join us for a journey back to the Nyittiny, the time of Creation, where love and loyalty are stretched to their limits. Award-winning songwriters Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse breathe life into the tale of Koolbardi the Magpie and Wardong the Crow: two boastful brothers locked in a battle between love and pride. Watch as their rivalry brings them unstuck in spectacular fashion.
Sung in Noongar language, this incredible local story will captivate children and adults alike with colourful characters, bold staging, and beautiful music. Under the deft direction of Matt Reuben James Ward, a cast of Western Australia’s finest rising talent will take the stage by storm. Filled with action and fuelled by fiery passion, this world premiere production is not to be missed.
Discover your wings and embark on an adventure the entire family will enjoy!
Koolbardi wer Wardong will be at His Majesty’s Theatre from 2 – 6 October 2021. This work is a Wesfarmers Arts commission.
