In Europe and South America, indoor volleyball is popular as an action-packed, spectator sport.
Now Perth families can experience the excitement and be part of this amazing atmosphere by getting behind the Perth Steel!
Perth Steel, WA’s very own men’s and women’s professional indoor volleyball team, competes in the Australian Volleyball League (AVL).
Whether your kids and family are already loving and playing volleyball or simply looking for something fresh, fun, and fast-paced to enjoy and experience together, seeing the Perth Steel in action is something worth checking out!
Why Volleyball?
Fast, fierce, and full of action—indoor volleyball is a thrilling experience for spectators. Each match is played best-of-five sets, with each set going to 25 points (except the final set, which is played to 15). Points are scored through lightning-fast rallies, gravity-defying spikes, incredible blocks, and diving saves that will have you and your little ones gasping and cheering.
It’s also a great sport for younger kids to follow. The court is smaller than a footy oval, so you can see every play clearly, and the scoring is straightforward. Plus, the energy in the stadium is electric—music, cheering, and high-fives all around!

Many of these players have come through Volleyball WA’s junior development programs, showing just how much potential our homegrown talent has.

Matches are family-friendly, affordable, and a great way to spend the weekend together. Think of it as something different from the usual movie or beach trip—high-energy entertainment that gets kids excited about sport, teamwork, and community.

Volleyball @ home
Get the whole family active, having fun and playing volleyball with a Backyard Volley kit from Volleyball WA or joining a social team!

These participation clinics introduce volleyball skills to players new to the sport, as well as, developing existing skills for current players. The clinics run over two days and are open to all levels. Coaches group players together according to similar ability and skill level.

Kids / Junior Volley Program
Kids Volley is delivered through Spikezone, Volleyball Australia’s entry-level Volleyball program for ages 5 to 12.
It is designed for primary school aged children to teach fundamental movement, skill development and competitive play using modified equipment.
Kids Volley Centre's are a fun place for kids to learn and socialise while playing an energetic activity and great team sport. It increases coordination and social skills and is a non-contact gender equal sport. Programs consist of 1 hour sessions during the school term run by fully accredited Volleyball WA coaches.
All you have to bring is yourself and a water bottle.

Junior Volley is a progression program from Kids Volley but can also be a players introduction to volleyball.
It is designed for secondary school aged students 13 – 17 years to develop the fundamentals in a fun and exciting way. Junior Volley also introduces participants to standard volleyball rules to help with understanding the game while improving their skills and progressing their volleyball.
Programs consist of sessions during the school term run by fully accredited Volleyball WA coaches.
All you have to bring is yourself and a water bottle. Participants should transition from Junior Volley into a Club program when they are ready.

School Holiday Program
