Alison Lester’s ‘Are We There Yet?’ Rolls into Perth for May 2023!
The year I turned eight, Mum and Dad took us on a trip around Australia.
Luke, Billy and I missed school for the whole winter term.
Alison Lester’s much loved picture book Are We There Yet? comes to life on stage in Perth for the first time this May! The show will play for 9 performances from 24 to 27 May 2023 at Octagon Theatre, UWA.
Join 8-year old Grace and her family on an adventurous (and often funny) expedition across the country, visiting iconic Australian landmarks along the way including the Great Australian Bight, Uluru, Surfers Paradise, and the Sydney Opera House.
From the team behind Magic Beach, The Gruffalo and The 13-, 26-, 52-, 78- & 91-Storey Treehouses, this new adaptation from multi-award winning playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer is a celebration of family, love, and the diversity and beauty of Australia.

Are We There Yet? is based on an actual road trip that Alison Lester went on with her family, and is the second of her classic picture books to be adapted for the stage. This beloved story will be brought to life with songs, laughs and quokkas in a show that the entire family will enjoy.
Producer Suzie Franke of CDP Theatre Producers said, “Many of us will remember long family road trips. Hours in the backseat with our siblings asking our parents, are we there yet? This beautiful production will take you on a journey around this amazing country that will linger in your imagination long after the adventure is over. We can’t wait to share all the fun, excitement, and amazing sights with audiences across Australia.”
‘Are We There Yet’ – Live on Stage is performing between 24 to 27 May 2023 at Octagon Theatre, UWA.
Tickets between $34 to $39, Running Time is approximately 55 minutes with no interval.

Following CDP’s successful national tour of Magic Beach, Alison Lester AM’s classic book comes to life on stage, with songs, fun, (and quokkas!) for children aged 3-10 and their adults. From the team behind The Gruffalo and The 13-, 26-, 52-, 78- and 91-Storey Treehouses, this new adaptation from multi-award winning playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer is a celebration of family, love, and the diversity and beauty of Australia.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, and is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
School group bookings of 12 or more are priced at $24 per ticket and includes 1 free ticket per school group! To book, please contact ticketsWA on info@ticketsWA.com or 08 6488 2440, 12 - 4pm weekdays.
Babies aged 0-2 years old may be seated on an adult’s lap. Children 2 years and older will need to hold a standard ticket.
